What is a cigar box guitar? These hand-Made Cigar Box Guitars are Acoustic-Electric: plug it in to an amp, or just play it acoustically!
This three-string slide instrument is tuned it to an open tuning, even though you could play it like you would a fretless bass guitar.
The body is made out of an antique-style cigar box which is constructed of solid Spanish cedar. The neck is solid hardwood poplar, with closed-machine guitar tuners. Much of the hardware is brass and quality D'Addario guitar strings are tuned up.
The finish is wood stain covered with a low-luster lacquer finish, both on the body as well as the neck of the guitar.
It also has a built-in Piezo transducer pickup so you can just plug in and play; you'll hear your acoustic sounds amplified.
Do you need a slide to play your slide guitar? We make those, too!
These guitars have been built like this for a long, long time. These instruments have been used in many old time American musics, from Delta Blues to Yiddish Vaudeville (even Jimi Hendrix was known to play one!).
This makes a unique functional instrument or simply an interesting conversation piece.
These instruments sell from $85 on up (depending on added features). If you are interested in checking one out in-person, contact Kyle Kipp for sales and availability by clicking here.
